A new summer menu can accompany your boozy brunch at “the Messy Tomato” • Glam Adelaide

We’ve found the best spot for your boozy brunch.

Adelaide café “the Messy Tomato” has introduced a summer menu to accompany its new liquor license, and the meals are delicious.

While the café still has its famous, massive breakfast platters, the Messy Tomato is branching out, adding summery dishes to its repertoire.

“The summer menu is light and fresh, but still filling,” says Juliana Esteves da Silva, the head chef. “I’m mainly vegetarian, so we came up with some new vegetarian pastas and salads.”

For breakfast, the Messy Tomato now offers Funghi Tartuffo––a potato rosti with spinach, a trio of mushrooms, poached eggs and decadent truffle sauce––and a vegan dish with pumpkin hummus, house-made dukkah, avocado, mashed peas, mushrooms, and a massive slice of pumpkin on pumpkin rye toast. These menu items complement other Messy Tomato favourites, such as the Napolitano poached eggs and bacon on Ciabatta, and a Brioche French Toast, which now has mango compote and heaps of fruits for summer.

For lunch, the menu now includes a spaghetti marinara with house-made fish stock, calamari, prawns, fish, crab meat and a traditional olive oil and garlic sauce, a vegetarian pumpkin penne with broccolini, and a Mediterranean salad with jalapeño and tahini.
