What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, AJ and the Queen stars RuPaul Charles, Izzy G., Michael-Leon Wooley, Josh Segarra, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere. In the story, Ruby Red (Charles) is a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen. She travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990’s R/V with her unlikely sidekick AJ (G.), a recently orphaned, tough-talking, and scrappy 11-year-old stowaway. As the two misfits — one tall and one small — travel from city to city, Ruby’s message of love and acceptance winds up touching people and changing their lives for the better.

What is the Plot of AJ And The Queen Season 2
The first season of AJ and the Queen follows the main characters AJ and “the Queen” Robert as they get to know each other. The drama of season 1 consists of the interpersonal tension between these two unlikely companions, as well as the danger posed by the criminal’s Lady Danger and Hector, who pursue the two travelers with the intent of “silencing” Robert (although their commitment to actually murdering the drag queen is admittedly questionable). While AJ and Robert are on the road, Louis is left behind in New York City dealing with his own drama with Officer Kennedy, and with Brianna, AJ’s negligent mother who lived in the apartment above Robert and Louis before being evicted.
Season 1 ends with most of these storylines left up in the air: Louis walks in on Officer Kennedy and another man, and, understandably, storms off in anger. Season 2 may see the two reconcile. Brianna is reunited with AJ in the finale’s final scene, but it is clear that AJ is furious with her mother and Robert is heartbroken to see the 10-year-old go. The final moments of the finale suggest season 2 will be about Robert’s journey to reunite with AJ.
There were quite a few drag queen cameos in season 1 of AJ and the Queen; fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race will no doubt hope to see more of these queens in season 2. Latrice Royale, Ginger Minj, and Trinity the Tuck had guest roles in season 1; perhaps their characters will return in the subsequent season? Trinity the Tuck, who plays Danielle Dupri, was crowned Miss Drag USA in the finale, but her crown was stollen by Lady Danger. It would be interesting to see if this story will be continued in the next season’s arc.
What is the Release date of AJ And The Queen Season 2
The show received a series order in May 2018, but the cast was not officially announced until September 2018. If AJ and the Queen are renewed for a second season, it will likely release in early-to-mid 2021. The production schedule depends on RuPaul’s availability, as the AJ and the Queen star/writer/producer is involved in various other ongoing projects, including RuPaul’s Drag Race (season 13 is in casting in early 2020) and the highly-anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race, All-Stars season 5.
