The Alabama football program has a start date for spring practice 2021, as well as A-Day.
Nick Saban’s Alabama football team begins its quest to repeat as national champions here soon.
Alabama will begin spring practice on Friday, March 19. Because the University of Alabama does not have spring break on the schedule because of the ongoing global pandemic, the Crimson Tide will have 15 practices without interruption, culminating in A-Day at Bryant-Denny Stadium on April 17. Outside of A-Day in two months, access to these practices will be off limit to the public.
Alabama did not have spring practice or A-Day an offseason ago
Even though Alabama did not have spring practice or A-Day last spring, that did not stop the Crimson Tide from winning its sixth national title of the Saban era in Tuscaloosa. Not only were the Crimson Tide national champions, but they were arguably one of the most dominant single-season teams in the history of the sport. Alabama was about as good as it gets offensively.
Overall, the good news is Alabama will be able to hold spring practice this year, which means 15 more opportunities for all its players to get better. While we will have to wait and see what the attendance policy will be for A-Day, it is better than not having it at all for the second year in a row. Alabama could be like Florida, who will not hold a traditional spring game for two straight years.
A more normal spring is indicative of hopefully a more normal college football season this fall.
