ASU police officer dies in motorcycle crash on Loop 101

An ASU police officer died in a crash Thursday morning in Tempe.

According to ASU police spokesperson Adam Wolfe, the crash occurred about 8:30 a.m. on Loop 101 near University Drive.

The officer was on a motorcycle at the time of the collision.

The officer was taken to Banner Desert Hospital where they later died, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the officer appears to have “struck a wall” while exiting the University ramp, which has been closed for investigation.

The officer’s name has not been released.
