Southern superstar Rajinikanth was the first celebrity to come forward by donating Rs 50 lakh to help daily wage workers.

2.Hrithik Roshan

The ‘War’ actor was one of the first celebrities to step up for those in need and make a significant contribution to help fight the crisis. As the number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 600-mark, Roshan sent out a tweet, announcing that he had procured N95 and FFP3 masks for the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) workers and other caretakers.

The move was welcomed and lauded by netizens all over the country. The 46-year-old star also sent out a tweet, thanking Aaditya Thackeray, son of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, for giving him an opportunity to help curb the spread of the pandemic.

3. Sachin Tendulkar

“Sachin Tendulkar decided to contribute Rs 25 lakh each to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in his bid to join the fight against COVID-19. It was his decision that he wanted to contribute to both funds,” a source privy to the development, told on conditions of anonymity.

Tendulkar has been associated with a lot of charity work and there have been umpteen times, he has taken up social causes, helped people, which has never been brought to public notice.
4. Pawan Kalyan

Power star Pawan Kalyan is currently in self-isolation at his home in Hyderabad. The actor, who is also a full-time politician. has donated a sum of Rs 2 crore to Chief Minister and Prime Minister’s relief fund to fight against the novel coronavirus.

In a series of tweets, Pawan Kalyan spoke about his monetary contribution to the state and central government. He admitted that he would donate a sum of Rs 50 lakh each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana government to help fight the pandemic.

His Twitter post read, “I will be donating Rs.50 Lakhs each to both AP and Telangana CM relief funds to fight against Corona pandemic.

5. Ram Charan

Actor, Ram Charan too took to Twitter to announce his contribution, adding that he had been inspired by Kalyan’s contribution.

“Inspired by Pawan Kalyan Garu’s tweet, I would like to contribute Rs. 70 lakh towards the Centre and States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Relief Fund in this moment of crisis,” he said.

6. Sourav Ganguly

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly too had pledged support, promising to donate Rs 50 lakh worth of rice to the underprivileged amid the lockdown.

7. PV Sindhu

Ace badminton player, PV Sindhu on Thursday donated Rs. 5 lakh each to the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Funds.

8. Prabhas

Following in Rajinikanth’s footsteps, Prabhas too made a significant donation to the needy. As per a PTI report, the ‘Baahubali’ star donated a whopping Rs 4 crore towards Covid-19 relief.

Out of the donation amount, the ‘Saaho’ star pledged Rs 3 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and Rs 50 lakh each to Chief Minister’s relief fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

9. Sunny Deol

Actor-politician Sunny Deol, who is known for his popular roles in films like ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh from his MPLADS fund.

The Gurdaspur MP will use the funds for buying necessary medical equipment needed to fight the virus. “I am withdrawing Rs 50 lakh from MPLADS fund so Gurdaspur doesn’t have to face difficulty fighting this pandemic,” Deol wrote on Twitter.

10. MS Dhoni

Former captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni, too, announced a donation of Rs 1 lakh to combat the pandemic that has gripped the nation.

Dhoni had donated the money via a crowdfunding website Ketto, to the Mukul Madhav Foundation, a public charitable trust, in Pune. While several netizens praised Dhoni for his much-needed contribution, some members of the Twitterati were of the opinion that Rs 1 lakh is too small an amount and that the 38-year-old cricketer could have donated more.

11. Kapil Sharma

Comedian Kapil Sharma, too, stood up for the nation and donated a sum of Rs 50 lakh to the Prime Minister Relief Fund to help fight coronavirus in the country.

The star of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ made the announcement via a tweet, where he urged his fellow Indians to stand up, and fight the pandemic.

“It’s time to stand together with the ones who need us. Contributing Rs 50 lakhs to the PM relief fund towards the #fightagainstcorona. Request everyone to #stayhome #staysafe #jaihind #PMrelieffund @narendramodi,” wrote Sharma.

12. Hema Malini

In addition to actors, people’s representatives, cutting across the party lines also did their bit and made significant donations for Covid-19 relief.

Veteran actress, Hema Malini, who is also the BJP MP from Mathura, released a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore from the MPLADS (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) funds for countering the virus.

  1. SHAME on Sunny Deol and his fathers keep Hema Malini for using Tax Payers money fund to show as donation. Its NOT their money what did these crooks donated from their Personal account? Dhoni then crook only gave 1 Lakh when this crook has made so much money. All these three should be beaten with sticks.
