Dancing on Ice contestant Joe-Warren Plant revealed that he had to take four days off from rehearsals after he fell over on the ice and injured his knee.

The Emmerdale star, who is set to make his debut on the ITV show on Sunday with skating partner Vanessa Bauer, explained that an ‘old football injury’ has been ‘affecting his time on the ice’.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press Joe, who plays Jacob Gallagher in the ITV soap explained that the accident happened after he went onto the ice ‘without knee pads’.

‘I have still got a bit of a knee injury from playing football six months ago and that’s affected me a little bit on the ice,’ he told us.

‘I’ve been going to physio as often as possible, just trying to keep it under control.

‘But on the first or second week that we started, I went on the ice without knee pads and I fell on the knee and it got swollen a little bit and I had to have four days off training.’

‘Since then I’ve just been purely focusing on keeping that knee under control,’ he added.

The 18-year-old went on to explain that he has suffered a few falls during his training with Vanessa but nothing too serious.

He continued: ‘Ice skating is about about knowing your limitations, especially at the end of the sessions when you become a bit more fatigued.

‘You can zone out a little bit and that’s when accidents happen so it’s always about being tentative, but at the same time we want to push ourselves.

‘So I’ve had a few falls, nothing serious.’

Joe isn’t the only celeb to have an accident during rehearsals. Earlier today it was reported that Graham Bell will not be taking part in the first show of the series after his dance partner Yebin Mok had a ‘freak accident’.

During rehearsals, Yebin was ‘stabbed’ with her skate’s blade and the wound was so bad it ‘showed her tendons’.

Rebekah Vardy’s pro partner Andy Buchanan also landed in hospital earlier this week after a training accident.

Dancing On Ice launches January 17 on ITV.
