Guardian Running for Senate in LD2 – Insider NJ

Following Senator Chris Brown’s announcement that he will not seek another term as State Senator in New Jersey’s 2nd Legislative District, former Mayor of Atlantic City Don Guardian, a Republican, announced that he will run for the open Senate seat.

Mayor Guardian said, “First and foremost, I want to thank Senator Chris Brown for his decades of public service. Not only has he served as an elected official, but he bravely served in the United States Military and has also served in numerous other positions across South Jersey. Senator Brown is a tremendous leader, and he leaves big shoes to fill. I will work extremely hard to live up to the high standard of public service that Senator Brown has set for us.

“I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me encouraging me to run for the Senate. I want to thank Senator Chris Brown, Senator Bill Gormley, and many more. Originally, I thought I could best serve as one of the two Assembly candidates with Senator Chris Brown leading our delegation. However, after today’s announcement and with overwhelming support to run for the open Senate seat, I am excited to announce my candidacy for State Senate.

“My experience as mayor of Atlantic City and as a business administrator has given me tremendous experience in municipal government, and will allow me to be a stronger voice for South Jersey in Trenton. We need a stronger voice and representation for our residents and businesses in Legislative District 2 during this tremendously difficult time. I am prepared to be that voice.”
