
There are reports this afternoon that two of Belfast City Council’s offices in the city centre have been evacuated due to a security alert.
The premises on Adelaide Street and Linen Hall Street have reportedly been sealed off and all employees have been asked to leave the buildings.
The Cecil Ward building is currently closed to the public due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The PSNI are present at the scene and have sealed off the building and are directing traffic away from the area.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are currently in attendance following a report of a suspicious object at the Adelaide Street area on Belfast. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative main routes for their journey.”
Belfast City Council is yet to comment on the ongoing situation.

She has been told that police are dealing with an “ongoing incident”.
