If you’re still trying to convince yourself that you can do everything on your own, don’t. You’ll have a meltdown one day. Overworking can lead to many mistakes, not to mention that the stress and exhaustion can make it hard, if not impossible to complete your tasks. Hard as it may be to ask for help, you have to do it. If you want to grow your business, stop doing everything yourself. Hire a virtual assistant. They will lessen your workload; all you have to do is to assign the right tasks. Oral communication and writing skills

In today’s high-tech society, communication takes place mostly through fax and email. The virtual assistant should be able to communicate with clients effectively in writing. Basically, they should be capable of grabbing the reader’s attention and getting their point across clearly. At times, written communication is more important than verbal communication. There’s a record and people will refer back to it eventually. Given that the virtual assistant is in charge of answering phone calls, it’s essential that they have good oral communication skills. They should be able to discern the nature of the phone calls and respond appropriately.

Time management skills

A virtual assistant works unsupervised, so they should work productively and efficiently. A skilled virtual assistant is capable of creating a schedule, setting deadlines, and work uninterruptedly. An inability to organize and manage time leads to poor performance on the job. You shouldn’t hire someone who wastes time. Your hiring decision should be based on solid data, such as skills. You can use a virtual assistant service like Virtalent that has a standalone matching process. Your queries will be responded to professionally. Getting back on topic, you need an organized and efficient virtual assistant. Don’t settle for anything less.

Computer skills

Given that all of the work will be done on the computer, a virtual assistant should have excellent computer skills. They should be able to handle word processing software, access the World Wide Web, manage files, create presentations, and so on. Ideally, the virtual assistant should be familiar with working with programs such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. If anything should happen and the computer goes down, both you and the client’s work will come to a halt. No matter the specifics of your activity, it’s not a good idea to become location-dependent.

Typing skills

Typing remains a fundamental skill, as not everyone is capable of typing fast and accurately. A virtual assistant works with the keyboard, whether they need to transcribe a document or writing an email. They should work comfortably on the computer, especially given that they don’t work in the office. At present, everyone is looking to be more productive and typing faster helps get the job done. Make sure the virtual assistant you’re hiring is experienced in touch-typing. Good typing skills are of the essence.
