Three of the five men who, last week, were handed jail sentences for illegal entry into Dominica, have appealed the matter and are now on bail.
The men entered via Caribou Beach in Wesley on January 28, 2021.
Donelle and Dion Mitchel and Shimron Joseph, through their lawyer, Wayne Norde, lodged an appeal and are now out on five thousand dollars bail each.
The matter is awaiting trial by the court of appeal.
A Haitian national, Jameson Joseph, who was charged along with the Donelle and Dion Mitchel and Shimron Joseph, remains an inmate at the prison.
Also imprisoned is another Haitian national who was charged with the same offence and prosecuted at the Marigot Magistrate court. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison for illegal entry, fined $15,000 for the customs charge and in default, he will receive one more year in prison.
Meantime, Dexter Joseph, another Dominican who was also charged in connection with the same incident for illegal entry and possession of ammunition, pleaded not guilty and his matter was adjourned to March 2, 2021, for trial.
