This is the oldest technique that was used in the Video Star when it was launched first. With the introduction of the automatic tools, the process went simple. But, using this technique for masking the background from overlay gives you more precision in the final video.

The additional advantage of using this method is that you can remove any color from the background of the overlay in Video Star.

To do so follow the steps given below:

  1. Start by tapping on the layer that you have imported in the previous section and then tap on the “Add Mask”.
  2. Now, navigate to the Edit Mask tab and click on the color tab from the top.
  3. Next, tap on the three stripes and set it to customs.
  4. Now, the overlay will be displayed in the mainframe.

Now, you will find two circles in the mainframe. The names of these circles are Match and Blend respectively.

Move your finger on the mainframe overlay to select the color that you want to mask. You will see a little dot in the Match circle. Now, move this dot in the Match circle to erase the color. This will erase the majority of the color from the overlay. To get the precision, start moving the dot in the Blend circle.

The blend as the name signifies will match the overlay with the background video.

2. Auto Background Color Masking

  1. Start by tapping on the layer that you have imported in the previous section and then tap on the “Add Mask”.
  2. Now, navigate to the Edit Mask tab and click on the color tab from the top.
  3. Next, tap on the three stripes and you will see a pop-up menu.
  4. This menu will provide you with the options that are combined by the “Match And Blend circles” in the custom masking.

This will provide you with two options: “Pure” and “blend”. The pure option will clear the color but will leave behind some pixelated edges and the blend will smoothen the edges.
