The world record set for solving a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube is 3.47 seconds!! Can you beat that? Ever thought a flip-flop cube can puzzle you this bad? Worry not, this post is all about the magic tricks to solve a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube and that too within seconds.
The cube gets its name from Rubik Enro who invented this brainstorming puzzle in 1974. Can you believe that a cube that many of us can’t solve even after multiple tries is being solved by feet and being blindfolded by some people making the world records? Crazy, right!! You too can beat these records by practicing the right algorithms to solve a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube mentioned in this article.
Although Rubik’s Cube attained widespread popularity in the 1980s but is still admired and widely used. Plus it’s a great way to keep your kids busy while they bring their brains into working. Here in this post, you’ll come to know about your cube, the Face Keys of the cube, Various algorithms to solve the cube, and the tricky steps to solve a 3×3 Rubik’s Cube, all at one place.
Gather the courage and be ready to try your luck. Let’s begin with knowing the cube and then moving to the algorithm shortcuts. Don’t miss the steps.

Get to Know Your Cube

A 3×3 Rubik’s Cube comes with three horizontal layers, top layer, middle layer, and bottom layer.
It has 6 faces and 6 centerpieces. The color of centerpieces is always opposite to each other like white is the opposite of yellow, blue is the opposite of green and orange is the opposite of red.
Each 3×3 cube has 12 edges and 8 corners.
3×3 Cube Face Keys
U= Up face
D= Down face
R= Right face
L= Left face
F= Front face
B= Backface
Shortcuts to Remember Algorithm Keys

Algorithm keys are the sequence of moves required to be followed in a specific order.
U= rotating the upper side from right to left.
U’ = Rotating the upper side left to right.
D= Rotating the lowermost side from left to right.
D’= Rotating the lowermost side from right to left.
L= Turning the first left column from up to down.
L’= Turning the first left column from down to upwards.
R= Turning the first column from the right side downwards up.
R’= Turning the first column from the right side upwards down.
F= Turning the front face click wisely.
F’= Turning the front face anti-clockwise.
B= Turning the back face anti-clockwise.
B’= Turning the back face clockwise.
y= Rotate

1.Make a White Cross

Try to make the white cross by following any of these algorithms:
- F U’ R U
- F U’ R U
- U’ R U
- U L’ U’
- U’ R’ U
2.Solve the White Corners
Not too long algorithms, just a few permutation tricks can get you going, like :
- R’ D’ R
- F D F’
- R’ D2′ R D R’ D’ R
- R2 D’ R2 D R2
- R’ D’ R D
3. Solving the second layer of Rubik’s Cube
With the third step, our motive is to get the yellow block at the center. Here are the algorithms you need to follow in this step:
- Left Algorithms: U R U’ R’ U’ F’ U F
- Right Algorithms: U’ L’ U L U F U’ F’
4.Making a Yellow Cross on the Top

The fourth step requires 20 turns and twists with a simple algorithm. This will help you achieve a yellow Cross at the top, that’s what we want. Here’s what you need to do:
F R U R’ U F’ y2 F R U R’ U’ F’ y2 F R U R’ U’ F’
5.Swapping the yellow edges in the top layer
In the previous step, we successfully created a yellow Cross. Now it’s time to achieve the yellow edges. Note: U2 means a double turn.
U R U R’ U R U2 R’ U y2 R U R’ U R U2 R’ U
6. Positioning the yellow corners
Hey! Cheer up. We are almost done. Only the yellow corners are left. Look for a yellow corner that is in the right position. Hold the cube and execute the algorithm. Sometimes you might have to repeat the algorithm twice.
U R U’ L’ U R’ U’ L
7. Orientation of the last layer of the Cube
You are so close to finishing this. Hold the cube such that the upper piece you want to orient is on the front-right- top corner and try this algorithm twice or four times until it’s completed.
